We Pledge to be Guardians of Animals

We believe that by using humane terms like animal guardian or caretaker instead of animal owner, we can encourage people to approach animals more respectfully as living beings rather than as objects, commodities, and property. We understand that language is a powerful tool, and that updating our language is the foundation for long-term social progress toward ending suffering. By teaching and conducting outreach using language that encourages respect, protection and care for non-human animals, we do our part to pass on humane values to future generations.
